MUSIC EDUCATION

In 4-6 music class, we will spend time in the following areas:

  • Singing

  • Moving to music

  • Learning about the fundamentals of music (musical staff, beats, rhythms, dynamics, and musical expression)

  • Responding to various musical recordings by writing in a journal

    Playing Instruments

  • Percussion instruments such as the djembe drum, conga drum, hand drum, cowbell, shaker, xylophone, and lummi sticks

  • Boomwhackers (color-coded plastic tubes tuned to various musical pitches)

  • Recorders

  • Ukuleles (using the new Yousician ukulele curriculum!)

This is my third year teaching music at Sto-Rox Upper Elementary School and Primary Center. I have been teaching music in other schools since 2011. 

When I am not teaching, I generally spend my time exercising, creating music mashups for my YouTube channel, and spending time with my wife and two kids.
